From Cool to Core: AI’s Evolution in the Capital Markets

Insights from SOLVE CEO Eugene Grinberg on TabbForum’s Market Structure Wave

Artificial intelligence has quickly shifted from a buzzword to a core driver of transformation in capital markets. In a recent TabbForum interview, SOLVE CEO Eugene Grinberg discussed how firms’ understanding and adoption of AI have matured, moving from confusion to confidence.

“Over the past year, the quality of conversations has changed,” Grinberg noted. Firms are now validating predictive models against their own trading data, building trust in AI-generated insights. That trust is crucial in fixed income markets still plagued by data fragmentation and uncertainty in price formation.

SOLVE’s focus is to deliver both speed and confidence in pricing, even when data is sparse. A new confidence score model now accompanies each predictive price, showing how much certainty underpins a given estimate.

Integration is another key theme. With limited screen space, traders want insights delivered inside their existing tools. Grinberg pointed to SOLVE’s partnership with Investortools as an example of embedding predictive pricing directly into buy-side workflows.

SOLVE has also expanded beyond municipal bonds, launching predictive pricing for U.S. corporates and extending coverage across loans and structured products.

Grinberg outlined three primary use cases: helping traders quote faster, powering algorithmic strategies, and supporting SMA portfolio managers seeking active alpha generation.

Looking ahead, he offered both warning and optimism: “We may see a firm fail from overreliance on autonomy—but the upside is clear. More quoting and participation mean more liquidity and stronger markets.”

As AI moves from hype to habit, Grinberg’s message is simple: AI’s power lies not in replacing traders, but in equipping them to act faster and with greater confidence.
