Bank Loan Market Summary

Telesat Canada (TELSAT) is this week’s winner, up 3.6% from $89.80 to $93.02 with the announcement that the Canadian government will make a $1.44 billion investment into Telesat’s low orbit satellite constellation, Telesat Lightspeed, positioning them as a global leader in the competitive satellite market.

NATIONAL CINEMEDIA TL B is this week’s loser, down -2.5% from $90.88 to $88.59 due to continued revenue struggles from theater advertisers as uncertainty remains within the industry despite increases in attendance and several blockbuster movie releases.

Retail was this week’s top-performing industry up .55% as the eCommerce boom continues with further emphasis placed on buy now pay later (BNPL) functionality benefiting both sellers and buyers.

Municipal Bond Market Summary

PORT AUTH NY/NJ-TXBL decreased -3.1% from $125.80 to $121.94 after the Port of Miami made the largest sale of bonds of $1.4 billion last week, putting New York and New Jersey in the second spot after their sale of $1.1 billion last July.

 

MI ST HSG DEV AUTH-A ranked on the Most Quoted Municipal Bonds list last week, quoted by 24 dealers, as they issued a program which provides 12 months of rental assistance for tenants who struggle with financial hardships due to the pandemic.

IG & HY Corporate Bond Summary

AESGEN increased 6.2% from $59.82 to $63.54 last week after Chilean presidential primaries in July brought some relief to the market. It is likely that growth will continue to accelerate across renewables and energy efficient applications and services in the region.

 

Rockwell Automation (ROK) decreased 3.9% from $150.98 to $145.10 last week after filing a lawsuit against EU Automation for alleged trademark infringement, false advertising, and unjust enrichment.

 

Energy: Electricity was one of the top performing industries this week with overall 5yr yields down 27 bps as companies, policy makers and regulators continue to make more collaborations across the energy spectrum.

Telesat Canada (TELSAT) increased 7.1% from $83.53 to $89.48 last week after the Canadian government announced it will make a C$1.44 billion investment in the company’s low orbit constellation, Telesat Lightspeed.

 

Talen Energy Corp. (TLN) decreased 22% from $50.39 to $39.33 last week after the indebted power producer’s crypto pivot leaves creditors confused.

 

Utilities: Oil & Gas was a top performing industry last week with overall prices down 0.5% as supply of more innovative products in renewables and energy efficient applications across geographies continues to increase.
