Senior Database Administrator| DR (Remote)

SOLVE is a New York-based financial technology firm with offices in seven countries. We are a leading provider of real-time observable market data and data aggregation across multiple Fixed Income asset classes including all Structured Products (ABS, MBS, CLOs, etc.), Syndicated Bank Loans, Corporate Bonds (IG, HY, EM, etc.), CDS, and Municipals
   
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA). The successful candidate will span multiple environments, teams, technologies and stakeholders. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be an integral part of both development and operations. This DevOps team will integrate technical advances of agile development such as continuous integration automation and version control of operations.  This role would require cross-functional work and frequent interaction with management. The ideal DBA should be proactive, process-oriented and have the ability to stay on target with multiple, simultaneous tasks.

SOLVE’s global technology team consists of back and front-end developers and QA engineers. The team collaborates to deliver product developments and enhancements across our internal systems and our desktop and web-based platforms.  This is a fantastic opportunity where the right candidate to join a creative, rewarding environment and have a direct impact on SOLVE’s cutting-edge technology and product offerings.  

Responsibilities:   

  • Be a part of DevOps team and work closely with developers to support and enhance the different SOLVE database systems hosted in AWS
  • Regularly monitoring the performance and health of databases to identify and resolve issues related to performance, security, and data integrity
  •  Implementing and managing backup and recovery procedures to protect SOLVE data from accidental loss or corruption. This involves creating & maintaining regular backups and testing the restoration process
  • Tuning and optimizing database performance to improve response times and overall efficiency, as well as identifying and resolving bottlenecks
  • Managing database software upgrades and applying patches to keep databases up-to-date and secure
  • Assisting in data migration projects, which involve moving data between different database systems or server environments
  • Collaborating with application developers and other stakeholders to design and optimize database structures that meet SOLVE business requirements and performance objectives
  • Predicting future data growth and resource requirements to ensure databases can handle increasing workloads without performance degradation
  • Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues and errors, working with internal users and clients when necessary
  • Maintaining thorough and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Developing and testing disaster recovery plans to ensure that databases can be restored quickly and effectively in case of a major system failure or AWS disaster

Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer and information technology or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in maintaining and managing MS SQL database servers in mission critical production environments
  • Should also have experience and willing to manage PostgreSQL, MySQL, & Oracle database systems
  • Should have experience in migrating databases from MSSQL to other DB systems like PostgreSQL
  • Should have basic AWS knowledge and experience with database management such as AWS Aurora/RDS, AWS Database migration service, EC2, also experience in SolarWinds DPA
  • Any database related certification(s) & AWS Certification(s) is a plus
  • Prior experience working at financial services or financial technology firms is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
